COMPOSITION: TRIM
The core of the trim itself is also environmentally friendly. It's MDF (reconstituted saw dust) which otherwise would have been used as land fill. That means no timber is harvested nor are forests destroyed.
Encapsulating the core is a decorative PVC film. This 12 to 16 mil, extremely thick protective coating is applied over the MDF with adhesives, heat, and pressure to beautifully conform to each particular molding profile. It's as if a durable, silky smooth finish was poured over the trim and instantly dried.
Not to be outdone, the 100% recyclable trim has a flame spread index (FSI) of 100/Class III and a smoke development index (SDI) of 330 per ASTM E-84.
This maintenance-free, prefinished trim equals and often surpasses the beauty of real wood, without the annoying problems associated with wood like splitting, shrinking, discoloring, or mildew growth. Plus all the trim is completely free of knots and sap-streaks.
Furthermore, as is the case with our fabrics, the trim is easily cleaned and withstands most cleaning solvents. All wainscoting is constructed the same way too.
